Cristiano Ronaldo officially became Real Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer by scoring in Saturday’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu. Ronaldo has now scored 324 goals in 310 games with Real making him the: Greatest Of All Time.

Before the start of the match Ronaldo shared his fourth Golden Shoe (2008, 2011, 2014 and 2015) with the fans who cheered the player. The Portuguese striker is the only man to have won four awards as the best player in the European leagues, with one more than Argentina and Barcelona forward Leo Messi.

Cissé Claims Innocence in Sex Tape Blackmail Plot

Former French international Djibril Cissé has denied trying to blackmail ex-teammate Mathieu Valbuena using sexy time tape footage, a day after he was arrested and questioned over his alleged involvement in the extortion plot.

Cissé, 34, was released without charge late in the afternoon and immediately claimed his innocence on French TV, calling up personal friend and host of French chat show “Touche pas à mon poste” (Don’t Touch My TV), Cyril Hanouna, to give his side of the story.

“I have nothing to do with it, Mathieu is a friend of mine,” he told Hanouna over the phone during the show’s live broadcast. “And I was not hiding under the bed while he got it in,” assured the former Marseille striker.

“Frankly, it’s not funny. It’s something that could have been very bad for me and for him,” he said, insisting the police had only taken him in for questioning “to hear my side of the story”.

The flamboyant Cissé himself made a complaint to police in 2008 after claiming he was the target of a blackmail attempt involving a sex tape while he was playing for Marseille. Which begs the questions what is going on in the Les Olympiens locker room.

Santos FC wants FIFA to ban Neymar

neymar-llora-despedidad20130526

Brazilian outfit Santos FC has petitioned FIFA to ban Neymar for six months claiming that the Barcelona striker violated FIFA disciplinary codes and is seeking €55 million in compensation and damages.

Santos FC president, Modesto Roma, was seen crying last may during a press conference whilst talking about Neymar’s case. Modesto pleaded that he was not “presenting a lawsuit against an idol,” but “asking for a favor to the club.”
In the lawsuit Santos is asking for Neymar to be suspended for six months from any official matches. The petition is based on the supposed violation of article 62 of FIFA’s disciplinary code in regards to corruption. Santos is accusing Neymar of ill faith and of non-compliance of the player transfer bylaws.

Dutch Talent not well Managed says Cruyff

Netherlands-vs-Czech-Republic-Euro-2016-Qualifying

“It is not about how talented someone is, but how that talent is handled”, says Johan Cruyff in his weekly column in ‘De Telegraaf’ with reference to the Netherlands failure to qualify to the EURO 2016. “It seems we are not able to have a good build-up against weaker teams, not allowing to have a good attack in play.”

“The Dutch national team started well against Kazakhstan, but failed in the last 20 minutes. In this phase the Kazakh played more reckless through which the Dutch lost total control. This again shows that when Dutch teams are required to decide their game plan, they are not able to do so.”

“This proves the previous World Cup has not been analysed well enough. The way the Dutch team was forced to play football back then should have been a wake-up call. However, after Brazil one has not raised enough questions about how it got this far. Instead most dealt with business as usual after the surprising third place.”

“One and a half year later the Dutch team are in trouble. Not because the players are worse, but because they were handled wrong.”

Los Cachirules: A dos a zero podcast. Episode 2

Our 2nd Episode is in the books. We had some good discussion on the US vs Mexico game that took place for the CONCACAF Cup. I was in attendance along with 93,000 others and enjoyed the great atmosphere and an even greater Golazo by Paul Aguilar.

We discuss the USMNT a bit more that you would originally think a Mexican podcast would, but we would like to get a good amount of US fans as listeners as well, even if some may just be haters. Come one, come all and enjoy the fun.

Another big topic we have discussed is the new Mexican NT coach, Juan Carlos Osorio. Will he succeed, will he last for 6 months, and will he even make it to the World Cup in Russia? Only time will tell, but qualifiers are coming, so he has 1 month until his first game.

Finally we talk the Olympic squad and their success in qualifiers and who will be the 3 overage players that Mexico will take to the Olympics. We even mention the dream scenario of beating Brazil 7-1 in the Maracana!

So take a listen to the podcast below, or on itunes. We also just created a twitter account for the podcast, so follow @los_cachirules.

CONCACAF Cup 2015 Experience

So I flew out to Cali to check out this “important” game between the US National Team vs the Mexican National Team of soccer. I knew of all the molero friendlies, such as the previous one in San Antonio, that this was the one to be at. 93,000 peeps flooded the stadium and from my perspective 85% of them were Mexico fans. Pancho Villa’s Army impressed with a large showing on their side of the field, and the huge banner that they unfurled during the Mexican national anthem.

I got to meet up with my man, Joely. Enjoyed some of LA sights and pregame tailgate festivities. The game was the icing on the cake, even with come back US goals, the ending was glorious.

Check out my experience below:

Los Cachirules: A dos a zero podcast. Episode 1

We started our first show last night, with some pretty good talk on this upcoming Mexico vs USA game. 90 large may be showing up, but we talked about it being a possible “partido molero” as well as the entire Confederations Cup.

Tune in Brethren! 😀
