Chivas always seems to take the spotlight in the show, this time in failure. We also discussed the Pumas disaster and heard from Lady Puma complaining to 3 players. We even discussed Non Soccer Related stuff like Beisbol, tacos, mean soccer coaches and more!
We talk Chivas and a possible crisis as they lose bad to MTY and Jair gets nutmegged by a canterano. We also discuss America and almost all the clubs in the League. We also discus Leon as requested by Richard on our live chat. The great state of Guanajuato. Highly recommend a visit! Enjoy the episode!
This episode we had another guest, Steve Graff! He joined us for the entire discussion as we had loads of fun talking LigaMX. We discussed the Veracruz/Tigres/Tuca sanctions and basically how corruption continues. We talked the Chivas meltdown and how Jaguares continue to play up to their competition. We also discussed the Cruz Azul loss to America. Steve mentioned he is an America fan so we played his special Aguila theme song. Ron was tearing up for his Wilas as well. We also discussed the U-20 Mexican team who loses to US but still beats El Salvador to qualify for the U-20 World Cup.
Thanks for listening!
Another show, another special guest. Jason Marquitz aka @soccermexicana joined us to talk Cruz Azul and his history following the club. We talked about their current woes as well as those of Club America. Sad times, but we had some good discussion.
We had good participation in the live chat as well. Thanks to all those that participated. One topic of discussion that came up was the personal rumors and speculation of Chicharito and his break up with Lucia Villalon. I attacked Cheech, while others defended San Chicha! We also discussed Tuca’s behavior and out of line statements during the Veracruz fiasco. I was hating on all fronts and the chat group labeled our show “Primer Impacto” like. 🙂
Have a listen here, or on iTunes!
An episodes full of laughter and mockery of the spectacle that is Cruz Azul. We talked their loss to America after going up 3-0. Is it psychological, a curse, bad coaching or players who just stink? We discuss this phenomena. 😀
We also talk a bit about Giovanni possibly coming back and the quote Decio De Maria gave on the topic. We still hold fast that the FMF black listed Gio and that he did not reject the call up to Copa America. With his expressed interest to join the NT again, and Decio’s back tracking comments, hopefully we see him soon.
In a day of supposed sadness from yet another failure by Mexico this summer, we join up for a post game podcast to discuss what occurred. We know no rustle, well, unless we start talking about LigaMX fashion demonstrated by head coaches such as Paco Palencia and Turko Mohamed. 😀
Anyway, we discuss indepth the Mexico loss to the Koreans, the Potro criticism, the Chucky failure/Ardido moment as well as a couple of bright spots.
We also took a few good calls and comments during the show. Thanks for all those who called in with comments and questions. Thanks to Tomas who brought some good insight.
Now, maybe we can distract ourselves with some LigaMX, until next week.
With a name like the “4 Grandes”, one would think that news of them winning should not be something to write about. Well, they did win. And they all won on the same weekend. Again, you ask “what’s the big deal? These are the premiere teams, the flagship clubs, the most powerful and popular clubs in Liga MX. They are used to winning and winning championships. So WTF, John?”
Well, let me tell you.
Yes, the big 4 won this past weekend. America dispatched Leon at the Azteca 2-1
while Guadalajara surprised league leaders Monterrey in the tamalera 3-1. A guy by the name of “la chofis” scored a riveting brace.
Cruz Azul made Atlas look so bad, favorite son Rafael Marquez begged forgiveness from the largest RednBlack supporters group, Barra 51 (named after the last year they won a league title).

After giving up an early goal, Pumas put together a 4 goal spurt to down Monarcas.
causing a butterfly to cry in a post-game TV interview.
The big deal is not that they won. It is that they all had wins in the same matchday. Something that had not happened in 4 years. 4 years. Not very big 4-like. We have to go back to Matchday 9 of the 2012 Clausura to see the last time this happened.
In those 4 years, Club America has certainly had the best run. A couple of League titles and a CONCACAF trophy have restored order (if you ask any Americanista) to the world. Cruz Azul and Pumas each have lost a final in that time frame, while Chivas has been in the wilderness, losing games and going through coaches and front office types like a tourist who eat too much street food goes through a roll of toilet paper.
The current table has them in the following positions:
- 3. America 21 pts +7
- 5. Cruz Azul 18 pts +7
- 9. Pumas 15 pts +2
- 12. Chivas 12 pts 0
The 8th place team, Tijuana has 16 pts, so it is conceivable that with 6 dates left, all four sides could make the post-season. When was the last time that happened? The 2011 Clausura, which coincidentally was won by Pumas – another opportunity to make the Butterflies cry…
